Usually, this is a time for revalry and singing Scottish drinking songs that no one knows the lyrics to.
Today, it's a time for frustration and annoyance, a perfect closing to the not-so-peaceful year of 2003.
Most of you know the troubles I have had with Mark Ngo recently. I've stayed out of direct contact with him because I was afraid of the consequences, so everyone was just going to go to Norman for a mediocre party and have a good time. I was accepting of that.
Then, yesterday, my best friend Jarrod Crawford found out he has an inflamed heart. Yes, dear readers, not inflammation of the wrist or even of the ego, but of his freaking heart. I can't leave him here in Tulsa to celebrate the New Year alone.
So, we talk to Mark, and he informs us that he's actually not working on New Years Day, which, up until this point, has been the story. So we try to convince him to move the party to Tulsa. Now his only argument is that there are people coming from Texas who don't know us, it's about comfort. It's all of 45 minutes for more comfort at the pool house!!!
I'm annoyed.
This morning I awoke to Traci's voice telling me my presence was required in Houston this New Years. After all the frustration I've experienced about today, I want to stick LaRae and Crawford in a car and drive down. Barring his sickness, I would. 1000 times I would. Friendships filled with people who ultimately care more about each other than themselves are more fulfilling.
Sorry, bitter entry for the New Year. Hopefully tomorrow I can do my Year in Review I've been thinking about.
