Sing is going very well. You got my impression of Thursday night. Friday night was an off show, but it was off for everyone according to impartial sources. Saturday was dead-on. It was a great show for us, 100x the energy we've had before. Everything was great except for me messing up the words in my solo. *shurg* nothing I can do but not do that again. It was all Dad's fault, sitting in the front row absolutely center. heh.
We had sing practice last night. Jason White, the arranger and band leader came. He's been doing sing for 14 years and is an amazing boon to our act. His suggestions really added some things. I really think we will be in Pigskin this year. Someone said something about a top 3 finish. I would absolutely pass out. I'll not think about that though, wouldn't want to be in any way dissapointed if we end up in pigskin.
We also had a ridiculous, but very important discussion last night. LaRae and I kept getting shoved away from a group of our friends who were having convorsations. Quickly realizing why, a subset of our group is considering splitting off and forming their own group for next year's show. As I'm a chair for next year, this was bad bad news for me. It would completely Ralph Nader our group. I think we worked out a good compromise and will perform collectively again, but there are some significant changes that we will have to make to our methodology. I had to give up some significant control over next year, as well as my theme idea...but if we split, it would be beyond bad.
I'm simply afraid now that this split group will be attempting to take-over our group. We've got to start now to form a working group dynamic, or this could still fall apart.
I know it's a bit ridiculous to be worrying about next year's sing when we have another week of perfomances + pigskin to go. But, we have little choice if we want to succeed.
It's going to be a long year, but fulfilling, I'm sure.
